AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br /> <br />38-35 AND 38-42, PERTAINING TO METER CHARGES AND ~iETER <br />RATES FOR WATER SUPPLY, PAYMENT OF WATER BILLS AND DIS- <br />CRETIONARY REBATES. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Sections 38-23, 38-33, 38-34, 38-35 and 38-42 <br />of the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be <br />amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 38-23. When cash deposit required as prerequisite <br /> to service. <br /> <br /> Whenever the owner of a premises elects not to sign <br />the contract described in ~38-22 or repudiates or cancels <br />a contract previously signed by him, no water shall be <br />supplied at the premises until the owner or tenant applying <br />-for the water shall deposit with the Director of Public <br /> Utilities a cash deposit equal in amount to the estimated <br /> bill cormm_ensurate with the size of the service and the <br /> normal billing period for the premises, including charges <br /> for water service and utility taxes based thereon, if any; <br /> provided however, the deposit shall not in.~ny case be less <br /> than thirty five dollars ($35.00). The owner may make <br /> deposit for the tenant. <br /> <br />Section 38-33. Meter Charges. <br /> <br /> The meter charges set out in the following table shall <br />be paid by water consumers for the several sizes of meters. <br />This charge shall be paid for each of the premises whose <br />occupants take water from the service pipe: <br /> <br /> Payment <br />Meter Size Per Month <br /> <br /> 5/8" ................................
