AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 1973, BY ADDINq TO CHAPTER 21 SECTIONS 2~r58..1.. <br />AND 21-58.2 PERTAINING TO SOLICITING FOR PROSTITUTION AND/OR <br />I~2~ORAL ACTS AND LOITERING FOR THOSE PURPOSES. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Sections 21-58.1 and 21-58.2 b~ ordained as follows: <br />Section 21-58.1. Soliciting for prostitution and/or immoral <br /> acts. <br /> <br /> Any person who shall, within the limits of the City, <br />solicit another, by word, sign or gesture, to coI~mit any act <br />that is lewd, lascivious, indecent, or prostitute, shall be <br />guilty of soliciting for prostitution or other i~ora! pur- <br />poses: which shall be a Class 2 Misdemeanor. <br /> <br />Section 21-58.2. Loitering for the purpose of engaging in <br /> prostitution or other immoral acts. <br /> <br /> Any person who remains or wanders about in any place open <br />to the public or any thoroughfare, and repeatedly beckons to, <br />stops, or attempts to stop passersby, or repeatedly attempts <br />to engage passersby in conversation; or repeatedly attempts <br />to stop motor vehicles; or repeatedly interferes with the <br />free passage of other persons for the purpose of committing <br />any act that is lewd, lascivious, indecent, or prostitute, <br />shall be guilty of a Class 3 Misdemeanor. <br /> <br /> 2.
