AN ORDINA/~CE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1973, By AMENDING SECTION 40-102 ~BI PERTAINING TO HISTORIC DISTRICT AND SUBDIST~ICT BUILDING REGULATIONS. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: 1.- That Section 40-102 ~B) be amended to read as follows: CB) Historic Residential: The following regulations shall apply to the Historic Residential Subdistrict and to all structures used only for residential purposes located in the Historic Limited Office Subdistrict. In Cradock, requirements applicable to the resi- dential R-75 Zoning District as prescribed shall continue to apply. Historic Residential HR as applicable to Olde Towne shall apply t~ Port Norfolk Historic District in all aspects other than the exceptions and special conditions provided for herein. Purthermore, conversion shall be permitted under-a use permit provision in the Port Norfolk Historic District as provided for in subparagraph (10) herein. ~1) Uses shall be limited to single, duplex or multi-family dwellings. C2} N~thing within this subsection (B) shall be construed as limiting, regulating or preventing the restoration, rehabili- tation, alteration or repair of buildings existing on October 24, 1967, the date of the original establis.hment of the Historic District, unless such limitation is expressly provided for herein. ~) Newly constructed buildings, structures and improve- ments or newly constructed additions to existing buildings shall not exceed three (3) stories in height. ~4~ New buildings, additions to existing buildings or existing buildings to be remodeled to increase the number of dwellin~ units therein may be erected or so remodeled only on lots or parcels which conform to the following schedule: Minimum Building Type Lot Size in Square Peet Single family ........................................ 2,000 Duplex .......................
