~IEREAS, Almighty God has seen fit to call unto Himself <br /> <br />J. Newton Maxey to share in the joys of eternal life; and <br /> WHEREAS, at the time of his death J. Newton Maxey was serving <br />as the Vice-Chairman of the Portsmouth Redevelopment & Housing Authority <br />and had served as a member of that body since 1960 with a deep sense of <br />dedication to the purpose that Portsmouth should develop in a way that <br />would be most beneficial to all concerned; and <br /> k~fEREAS, the community has suffered a great loss in the untimely <br /> passing of J. Newton Maxey and has joined with his family and friends in <br /> mourning his death. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE I7 RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that the sympathy of this body, acting for the <br />· citizens of this City, be ahd hereby is extended to the family of the <br /> <br /> late J. Newton Maxey. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread upon <br /> the minutes of the Council and that a copy thereof be forwarded by the <br /> City Clerk to the family of the deceased. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br /> at a meeting held September 13, 1966. <br /> <br /> Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
