after, there shall be a general election at which time the qualified <br />voters of the city shall elect a mayor and three ~e~ councilmen <br />for terms of four years. Ail terms shall begin on the first day of <br />July next following the date of their election. <br /> <br /> (b) The candidates at any municipal election for the <br />election of councilmen equal in number to the places to be filled <br />who shall receive <br />een~m the largest number of t~e votes cast at such election shall <br />be declared elected to the offxce of councilman. The candidate <br />for mayor who receives the largest number of votes at any municipal <br />election shall be declared elected tO the office of mayor. ~ the <br /> <br /> · (c) In the event any member of council durin~ his term <br />of office shal%'~eSire to be a candidate for the office.of M~yor~ <br />he shall be elx~lble to do so, but shall tender his resxgnatx~n <br />as a member of Council by the final date for the filing of petitions <br />and notices of acceptance as specified herein, such resignation <br />~o be effective no later than the thirtieth..day of June of such <br />~lection year. The vacancy created by such resignation shall be <br /> illed in the manner specif%ed in section 3.04 herein. <br /> <br /> (d) The city clerk shall notify all successful candidates <br />of what is necessary for them to do to qualify for office immediately <br />after their election has been certified .by the proper officials. <br /> <br />Section 3.05. Induction of New Members. <br /> <br /> Eeeh-mem~e~-e~-ehe-eeun=~ The Mayor and each ~ouncil- <br />man, before entering upon the duties of his office, shall take the <br />oath of office. The oath of office may be administered by the <br />city clerk, the judge.or clerk of any court, or. by any other officer <br />authorized by law. <br /> <br />Section 3.06.
