(a) 8n-~he-~rs~-&ay-e~ At the first regular meeting in <br />July, ~8 nineteen hundred seventy-four <br />e~_~y_eve~yhse=e~-yea~-~he~ea~e~?-~-~-s~h-~ey-~ha~-~a~ <br />em-Bun~ay-~he~-e~-ehe-~n~-Men~ey? the council shall proceed <br />to choose by majority vote of all the members thereof one of their <br />number to be mayor and one to be vice-mayor for the ensuing two years. <br />Until this business has been completed, the council shall not <br />adjourn for a period longer than forty-eight hours. The city <br />attorney shall preside over such meeting, and any adjournment <br />thereof, until a mayor and a vice-mayor shall have been elected. <br /> <br /> (b) At the first regular meeting in Ju%y, nineteen <br />hundred seventy-six and at the first regular meetlng in July <br />every second year thereafter, the council shall proceed to ~hoose <br />by majority vote of all the me~bers thereof o~e.o~ ~ir_n.u~er <br />to be vice-mayor for the ensuing two years. Until tn~s bus,ness <br />has been completed, the council shall not ad~ourn for a ~eriod <br />longer than forty-eight hours. <br /> (c) The mayor ~Mall~be elected in nineteen hundred <br />seventy,six, and ever~ four year~ thereafter in the manner specified <br />in sectxon 3.03 here~n. <br />Section 3.08. Vacancies in the Offices of Mayor or Vice-Mayor. <br /> (a) Vacancy in the office of mayor shall be filled <br /> for the r~mainder of the unexpired term thereof in.the same manner <br /> as urescr~bed for v~e~¢ies i~' the office of councilman in sectio~ <br /> ~]0~ her~n. In th~-~ent the mayor is appointed from the memberu <br /> of the council and elects to serve as such, he shall immediately <br /> tender his resignation as a member of council and the vacancy <br /> created thereby shall be filled asprovided in Section 3.04. <br /> (b) Vacancy in the office of the m~y~=-~= vice-mayor <br /> from whatever cause aris%ng, shall be filled by majority vote of all <br /> the members of the council for the unexpire4 portion of the term. <br /> <br />Section 9.08. Justices of the Peace. <br /> <br /> There shall be appointed by the majority of all the <br />members of the city council ~en at least two justices of the peace <br />for the city at large and such additional Justices of the Peace <br />only in the number necessar~ for the effective~ administration of <br />~ustice, who shall hold office for a term of four years and unt~k <br />their successors are elected and qualified.
