10 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION_REQUESTING.THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE CITY OF P. ORTS~ <br />MOUTH IN THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO VIGOROUSLY SUPPORT DURING THE <br />i9q4 SESSION OF THE ASSEMBLY, HOUSE BILL 1 REkATING TO THE USE <br />OF THE SOUTHERN STANDARDBUILDING CODE AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO THE <br />BUILDING CODE PRESENTLY PRESCRIBED BY THE UNIFOP~! STATE WIDE <br />BUILDING CODE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the State Board of Housing pursuant to legis- <br />lation of the General Assembly has adopted as the Uniform State <br />Wide Building Code a building code different from the one pre- <br />sently in use in Portsmouth; and <br /> <br /> WMMREAS, the Southern Standard Building Code is the <br />code presently in effect in the City of Portsmouth; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is the preference of the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth that the Southern Standard Building Code be <br />allowed to be continued in use indefinitely in the City of Ports- <br />mouth; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, House Bill 1 as proposed would allow locali- <br />ties to utilize the Southern Standard Building Code as an alterna- <br />tive to the code presently prescribed in the Uniform Staue Wide <br />Building Code. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the representatives of the <br />City of Portsmouth in the General Assembly be, and are hereby <br />requested to support House Bill 1 during the 1974 Session so <br />as to allow localities the continued use of the Southern Stand- <br />ard Building Code. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Vir- <br />ginia, at a meeting held February 12, 1974. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
