~ · 118 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE ACTION OF THE UNITED NATIONS <br />CONDE~!NG ZIONISM. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the United Nations has adopted a <br />resolution condemning Zionism as a form of racism; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the citizens of Portsmouth, Virginia <br />were shocked and saddened by the action taken by the <br />General Assembly of the United Nations; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, all religious leaders of our community <br />and the Council believe that such action undermines the <br />moral foundation of the United Nations. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council <br />of the City of Portsmouth, on behalf of its citizens, <br />vigorously opposes the action of the United Nations in <br />conde~ing Zionism, and the City Clerk be, and is hereby, <br />directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the <br />Secretary General of the United Nations and the Secretary <br />of State. <br /> <br /> THEREFORE t <br />resolution be spread <br />meeting. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this <br />in full upon the minutes of this <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia, at a meeting held November 25, 1975. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
