119 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE CONSTRUCTION OF 1.5 MILES OF INTER- <br />STATE 264 BET~%~EEN PORTSMOUTH AND NORFOLK AND COMPLETION OF <br />5 MILES OF INTERSTATE 664 FROM THE JA~4ES RIVER TO U. S. HIG~AY <br />17. <br /> <br /> k~EREAS, the United States Secretary of Transportation <br />has withdrawn recognition of a 9.6 mile segment of Interstate <br />66 in Northern Virginia; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, reallocation of said milage shall be made <br />to other eligible segments of the Interstate system within <br />the State of Virginia; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it has been determined that the 1.5 miles <br />of Interstate 264 between Portsmouth and Norfolk and 5 miles <br />of Interstate 664 from the James River to U. S. Highway 17 <br />are eligible for such reallocation; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ it is recognized <br />crossings of navigable waterways in <br />Interstate Highways is essential to <br />ment of the regional transportation <br /> <br />that completion of the <br />the Tidewater Area by <br />the continued develop- <br />system. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of <br />the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that Interstate 66 milage <br />be reallocated to the ~onstruction of 1.5 miles of Interstate <br />264 bet~een Portsmouth and Norfolk and completion of 5 miles <br />of Interstate 664 from the James River to U. S. Highway 17 is <br />hereby endorsed. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is <br />hereby instructed to forward certified copies of this <br />resolution to the Honorable Mills E~ Godwin~ Governor of <br />Virginia and Senator Willard J~ Moody, Chairman of the <br />Virginia Commission on Vehicular Crossing of the Elizabeth <br />River. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held November 25, 1975. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
