S. DEPARTMEz~ OF CO-~4ERCE' <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Economic Development Administration funds <br /> ~ t <br />of the U. S. Deparumen of Commerce has made certain <br />available to support a labor intensive sidewalk, curb, and <br />gutter repair project in census tracts 102~ 118, 119, 120 <br />and 123; and <br /> ~EREAS, the City Manager has recor~mended institution <br />of the project within the city; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is the sense of the City Council of the <br /> City of Portsmouth, Virgmnia, that such project would sign- <br /> and utility <br /> · 1 <br /> ifmcant y contribute to upgrading the appearance <br /> of sidewalks, curbs and gutters in the neighborhoods involved; <br /> and <br /> ~%~EREAS, the City of Portsmouth would have undertaken <br /> this project during fiscal year 1977 if sufficient funds had <br /> been available~ and <br /> ~,r~EP~AS, the amount of federal funds to be provided <br /> will be Three Hundred Thousand ($300,000.) Dollars cash, to be <br /> of Fifty Thousand <br /> matcn~a by the City of Portsmouth in the amount <br /> ($50,000.) Dollars cash, and Fifty Thousand ($50,000-) Dollars <br /> in-kind services, with the Fifty Thousand ($50,000.) Dollars <br /> cash being contingent on the receipt of federal funds: and <br /> WHEREAS, the Economic Development Administration <br /> requestS assurances of completion of the pro3ect in a timely <br /> and satisfactory manner within the approved budget constraint. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council o~ the <br /> City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager on behalf <br /> ~ ~h directed and authorized to in- <br /> of the City of Ports~ouu is ' ~ d <br /> stitute a proDect to replace and repair determora~e sidewalks, <br /> curbs, and gutters in census tracts 102, 118, 119~ 120 and 123 <br /> in conjunction with the Economic Development Administration of <br /> the U. S. Department of Commerce, such pro]ect to begin within <br /> sixty (60) days after notificatmon of receipt of the grant and <br /> to be com®leted within ten (!0) months. <br /> <br /> <br />
