A RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY PON A <br />PERMIT PROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF HIGNi~AYS TO INSTALL <br />A SIXTEEN INCH DUCTILE IRON WATER MAIN IN THE RAMP B OF TN~ <br />WEST NORPOLK ROAD INTERCHANGE SITUATE iN THE RIGHT 0P WAY <br />OF THE PROPOSED WESTERN PREEWA¥, AND 30 SiGN A B0~ IN THE <br />AMOUNT OP $t,O00. FOR THE SAIl PROJECT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ it becomes necessar3 from time to time <br />for the City of Porvsmouth to obtain permits from the <br />Firginia Department of Highways to ins~il~ construct, re- <br />conssruct, maintain and operate certain public works along, <br />across~ over and upon the highway system of Virginia; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, expense~ damage or injury may be sus- <br />tained by the Commonwealth of Virginia growing out of the <br />granting to said City of Portsmouth by the Virginia Depart- <br />ment of Highways of said permits for the work aforesaid; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHER=AS, one of the conditions of such permmo <br />or permits is that the City of Portsmouth shall indemnify the <br />Comraonwealth of Virginia against all damages and injuries <br />vo the highways and bridges and ~o property lawfully upon <br />such highways. <br /> <br /> NOW~ THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVEi by the Council of <br />the City of Portsmouth, Virginia~ that the City Manager be, <br />and he hereby is directed to apply for a permit from the <br />Virginia Department of Highways to install a sixteen inch <br />ductile iron water main and to sign a bond in the form <br />attached hereto in the amount of One Thousand and 00/100 <br />($1~000.)
