8O <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CONSTRUCTION OF A SIDEWALK IN <br />THE 700 BLOCK OF DOUGLAS AVENUE BET~VE~EN 703 DOUGI~AS AVENMJE <br />AND 727 DOUGLAS AVENUE, WHERE STANDARD SIDEWALKS DO NOT NO?; <br />EXIST; THE ABUTTING LAI~DO~JERS SHALL BE ASSESSED AT THE COST <br />OF $2 .OO PER FRONT LINEAL FOOT; AND DiP~ECTING THAT ABSTRACT <br />OF THIS RESOLUTION BY RECORDED TOGETHER WITH A STATEMENT <br />SHOWING THE ESTI~AT.~.D A~%iOb~NT THAT WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST <br />SUCH LANDOWI~ERS. <br /> <br /> WHEP~EAS, by petition submitted in accordance <br />with law, certain abutting landowners have petitioned the <br />City of Portsmouth to construct a sidewalk in the{~700 block <br />of Douglas Avenue between 703 Douglas Avenue and ~27 Douglas <br />Avenue, where standard sidewalks do not now exist; the <br />abutting !ando%.~ers shall be assessed paying $2.00 per front <br />lineal foot of the cost of said sidewalk;-and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, notice has been duly given to the abutting <br />landowners, as provided by law, that a hearing would be held <br />before the Council of the City of Portsmouth on September %4,~ <br />1976, at 7:30 P.M., in the Council Chambers; and &~ ~q~ <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said hearing has been duly held and <br />in the judgment of the Council the said sidewalk should <br />be constructed. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of <br />the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That the construction of a sidewalk in the <br />700 block of Douglas Avenue between 703 Douglas Avenue and <br />727 Douglas Avenue, where standard sidewalks do not now <br />exist~ is hereby authorized. <br /> <br /> 2. That the abutting landowners shall be assessed <br />at a rate of $2.00 per front lineal foot pursuant to a <br />petition signed by seventy-five (75%) percent of the property <br />owners affected by the requested improvements. <br /> <br /> 3. That the City Clerk forthwith caused to be <br />recorded an abstract of this resolution, together with a <br />statement showing the ownership and location of the property <br />to be affected by the proposed sidewalk ~nd the estimated <br />amount that will be assessed against each abutting lando~er <br />in accordance with a statement thereof on file in his office. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Co~qcil of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held September 14, 1976. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
