61 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION REAFFIRMING ENDORSEMENT OF THE PROGRAM SPONSORED <br />BY THE CLEAN COBIMUNITY COmmISSION; WELCOMING THE KEEP AMERICA <br />BEAUTIFUL, INC. PROJECT LEADER WORKSHOP TO THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Portsmouth City Government has sponsored the <br />creation of the Clean Community Commission; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Commission has organized and become a vit&I <br />force in promoting a clean city through its volunteer committees <br />for business and industry, communications, conununi.ty organizations, <br />federal'agencies, schools and municipal operations; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Clean Community Commission sponsored the <br />national award winning "PRIDE" Week Program; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Keep America Be,autiful will hold a Project Leader <br />Workshop ior other cities here in Portsmouth on September 20 - <br />22, 1978. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, proudly welcomes Keep America <br />Beautiful, Inc. to our City and wishes them a most pleasurable <br />and successful visit; and <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we reaffirm: our endorsement <br />of the Clean Community Commission and e~courage all members of <br />the co~unity to support the Commission thr6~gh voluntary <br />contributions in-its efforts to clean up our City and change <br />citizen attitudes toward litter; and <br /> <br />BE ~T FURTHER RESOLVED, that we recognize 'and thank the <br />members of the Commission, i~s Committees and the volunteers <br />for'the many willing hours they have given in building "PRIDE" <br />as Members of the Clean CommUnity Teara.
