WHEREAS, the site proposed in.census tract 125 will not <br />have an adverse impact on schools and other services, is <br />zoned for multi-family (R-60) ~ has recently been redesignated <br />for this use in the Comprehensive Plan and contains approximately <br />ten (10) acres which is more than adequate for the construction <br />of 100 units of multi-family housing; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth is in the <br />best position to determine local needs and the location of <br />any additional housing. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority <br />is directed to prepare an amendment to the 1979 Three-Year Plan <br />designating census tract 125 for new construction for the <br />1980 Community Development Program and to take any additional <br />steps necessary to obtain control of the site. <br /> <br /> 2. That this Council will hold a public hearing on August 26, <br />1980 on the proposed amendment, and, if approved, would <br />submit same to the HUD Area Office for approval and make a <br />formal request for preapproval of the afore-mentioned site <br />and the assignment of contract authority for 100 units of <br />Section 8 housing to the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing <br />Authority for the development of the units. <br /> <br /> 3. That the City Manager is directed to advise HUD of <br />this Council's action by the forwarding of a certified copy <br />of this resolution to the Area Manager for HUD and <br />the willingness of this Council to authorize the City Manager <br />to execute a contract conditioned on the building df tO0 <br />units of new construction in census tract 125 in accordance <br />with the proposed amendment. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held August 12, 1980. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
