55 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE RURAL CLEAN WATER PROGRAM SPONSORED <br />BY THE UNITED STATES DEP~RTMENT OF AGRICULTURE FOR THE NANSEMOND <br />RIVER-CHUCKATUCK CREEK WATER SHED. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Agricultural Stablization and Conservation <br />Service of the U~ited States Department of Agriculture is <br />sponsoring a pro~ect under the Rural Clean Water Program for <br />the Nansemond~ River-Chuckatuck Creek water shed area; and <br /> WHEREAS, this program provides for Federal ~ssistance <br />to reduce non-point source water pollution relating to agri- <br />cultural operations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the program will also assist in implementing <br />the best management practices for agriculture as developed <br />by the State Water Control Board; and, , . <br /> WHEREAS, if the program is successful, it will assist <br />in reducing pollution in the lakes owned by the City of <br />Portsmouth at no direct ~ost to the City. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the Council supports ~he <br />Rural Clean Water Program sponsored by the United States <br /> of Agricultur~ for the Nansemond River-chuckatuck <br />Department <br />Creek water shed ....~ · . <br /> Adopted by the CounCil of the City of ~ortsmouth, Virginia, <br />at a meeting held July 8. 1980. · <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
