1985-35 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 1973, BY AMENDING SECTIONS 38-34, 38-48 (a), AND 38-77 <br />(f) (g) PERTAINING TO WATER RATES, SERVICE CONNECTIONS AND STRONG <br />WASTE CHARGES. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, that Sections 38-34, 38-48 (a), and 38-77 (f) (g) of <br />the qode of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended to <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 38-34. Meter rates for water supply. <br /> <br /> (a) For all water which passes through the meters, <br />the consumers within the corporate limits of the City of <br />Portsmouth shall pay a rate of one dollar twenty-five cents <br />($1.25) per one thousand (1000) gallons, or ninety-three and <br />fifty one hundredths cents ($0.9350) per one hundred (100) cubic <br />feet of water supplied. <br /> <br /> (b) For all water which passes through the meters of <br />the City of Chesapeake pursuant to contract, the City of <br />Chesapeake shall pay one dollar and seventy cents ($1.70) per one <br />thousand (1000) gallons, or, one dollar twenty seven and sixteen <br />hundredths cents ($1.2716) per one hundred (100) cubic feet of <br />water supplied. For all water which passes through the meters, <br />the customers of the City of Chesapeake who are served by <br />Portsmouth and whose rates are not set by contract shall pay two <br />dollars twenty-three cents ($2.23) per one thousand (1000) <br />gallons, or, one dollar and sixty-seven cents ($1.67) per one <br />hundred (100) cubic feet of water supplied. <br /> <br /> (c) For all water which passes through the meters to <br />the City of Suffolk pursuant to contract, the City of Suffolk <br />shall pay one dollar fourteen and fifty-eight one hundredths <br />cents ($1.1458) per one thousand (1000) gallons, or, eighty-five <br />and seventy-one one hundredths cents ($0.8571) per one hundred <br />(100) cubic feet of water supplied. <br /> <br /> (d) The rates prescribed herein shall be reflected in <br />bills rendered after July 1, 1985. <br /> <br />Section 38-48. Service connections and maintenance. <br /> <br /> (a) NEW SERVICE CONNECTIONS. Whenever application is <br />made pursuant to Section 38-20 for the installation of a new <br />water service connectIon within the City or within the Suffolk <br />Service area. The applicant shall make the payment hereinafter <br />specified. The size and location of any such water service <br />connection shall be determined by the Director of Public <br />utilities. Such payment or deposit shall cover the following <br />services, materials and labor: Installing water service <br />connection between the water main and the meter, shutoff valve at <br /> <br /> <br />
