the meter, outlet fitting on meter or master meter, meter box and <br />meter, all of which shall be owned and thereafter maintained by <br />the Department of Public utilities. <br /> For the following sizes of service connection the <br /> indicated charge shall be paid in advance: <br /> <br /> 3/4 inch service connection <br />1 inch service connection <br />1-1/2 inch service connection <br />2 _ inch service connection <br />4 inch service connection <br />6 inch service connection <br /> <br />325.00 <br />400.00 <br />500.00 <br />800.00 <br />2,500.00 <br />4,000.00 <br /> <br /> Where the size of the service connection exceeds six (6) <br />inches, the applicant shall be required to pay a charge equal to <br />the actual cost of such installation, plus twenty-five per cent <br />(25%). The minimum charge for an eight (8) inch service <br />connection shall be four thousand, five hundred dollars ($4,500) <br />and the minimum charge for a ten inch connection shall be six <br />thousand dollars ($6.000). The director shall estimate the <br />charge, and the applicant will deposit such amount before the <br />work is done. An accounting shall be made of the cost of such <br />installation. If the deposit is less than such charge, the <br />applicant shall pay the difference within ten (10) ~days, and if <br />the deposit is more than such charge the difference shall be <br />refunded promptly. <br /> Section 38-77. Charges for service established. <br /> (f) STRONG WASTE SURCHARGE. Wastes of domestic, <br /> industrial, garbage or other origin discharged into the sewer <br /> system and which have characteristics that add unduly to the cost <br /> and maintenance and operation will be subject to the following <br /> surcharges: <br /> Suspended solids. For excess of over twenty hundred and <br /> fifty (250) milligrams per liter a surcharge of six dollars and <br /> ten cents ($6.10) per one hundred (100) pounds will be applied. <br /> Biochemical oxygen demand. For excess over two hundred <br /> and fifty (250) milligrams per liter a surcharge of five dollars <br /> and seventy-five cents (S5.75) per one hundred (100) pounds will <br /> be applied. <br /> Unusual characteristics of waste will be surcharged for <br /> in keeping with such special rates as shall be adopted by the <br /> City Council. <br /> The City may make an initial survey of the discharge to <br /> determine the applicability of the surcharge. Based on survey <br /> results the City may institute the surcharge and/or require the <br /> customer to provide such tests and equipment as will provide <br /> adequate basis for the surcharge to be made.
