connection will be the actual cost, as computed by the Department <br />of Public Utilities of the City of Portsmouth, plus an additional <br />twenty (20) percent thereof, or the minimum charge applicable to <br />the type of building served, whichever is greater. <br /> <br /> (4) When a sewer does not exist in the street <br />adjacent to a building site, sewer lines may be installed by the <br />City to serve such site ~or which the owner of such site shall <br />pay the actual cost plus twenty (20) percent, unless the City <br />Council shall otherwise direct. <br /> <br /> a. When in the ordinary course of business a portion of <br />a sewer collection system is replaced, as part of routine <br />maintenance and there occurs no improvement to the sewer <br />collection system, no sewer connection fees shall be charged. <br /> b. When a substandard sewer collection system connected <br /> to a treatment facility is taken out of service and a new <br /> collection system connected to a treatment facility replaces such <br /> substandard collection system, a sewer connection fee shall be <br /> charged in the appropriate sum charged at the time improved <br /> service was made available, but not to be less than sixty dollars <br /> (6O.00). <br /> <br /> (e) Water connection fees. <br /> <br /> The water connection fees shall be as <br />Portsmouth City Council. <br /> <br />set forth by the <br /> <br />(f) Sewer connections generally: <br /> <br /> (1) The plumbing inspector shall issue permits <br />and make inspections for connections to the City sewers. A <br />record shall be kept of all sewer connections and inspections. <br />All sewer connections shall be provided with a clean-out at the <br />curb or as near thereto as practicable. <br /> <br /> (2) Building sewers and water service pipes <br />shall connect to the public sewer and water main at a point <br />designated by the proper municipal authority. <br /> <br />This ordinance shall take effect July 1, 1985. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held May 14, '1985. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
