AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF
<br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1973, BY AMENDING SECTIONS 24-49,
<br />24-56, 24-58, 24-59, 24-62, 24-63, 24-64, 24-65, 24-71,
<br />24-73, 24-77, 24-78, 24-79, 24-80, 24-81, 24-85, 24-86
<br />AND 24-87 OF CHAPTER 24 THEREOF, PERTAINING TO PARKS AND
<br />RECREATION.

<br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of
<br />Portsmouth, Virginia:
<br />
<br /> 1. That Sections 24-49, 24-56, 24-58, 24-59,
<br />24-64, 24-65, 24-71, 24-73, 24-77, 24-78, 24-79, 24-80,
<br />24-81, 24-85, 24-86, and 24-87 of Chapter 24 of the Code
<br />of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended to
<br />read as follows:

<br />Section 24-49. Definitions.
<br /> For the purposes of this Article, the following
<br />words and phrases shall have the meanings ~espectively
<br />ascribed to them by this section:
<br />
<br /> BATHING AREA~ ~ny beach or water area designated
<br />by or under authority of the City Manager as a bathing
<br />area;
<br />
<br /> BRIDLE PATH OR TRAIL. Any path or trail maintained
<br /> fo~ persons riding on horseback;
<br /> FOOTPATH OR TRAIL. Any path or trail maintained
<br /> for pedestrians;
<br />
<br /> OWNER. Any person, f!i~m, association,
<br /> co-partnership or corporation owning, leasing,
<br /> operating, o~ having the exclusive use of a vehicle,
<br /> animal o~ other property unde~ a lease or otherwise;
<br /> PARK. The te~m pa~k or parks, unless specifically
<br /> limited, shall be deemed to include all designated
<br /> parks, golf courses, playgrounds, and othe~ ~ecreational
<br /> areas owned by the City;
<br />
<br /> PERMIT. Except as otherwise provided in this
<br /> Article, any w~itten license issued by o~ under
<br /> authority of the City Manager.
