s~ruction, including all excavations and showing the approxi- <br />mate location ef the poles, conduits, or manholes, and approxi- <br />mate height above or depth below the surface of %he street. <br />If the Director or such other person properly designated as- <br />certains that such plans comply with the terms of-this ordinance, <br />and do not interfere with structures already in the street or <br />highway, or with the sewers and water mains of the Grantor, and <br />approves the location of the proposed structure, he shall approve <br />said plans, and in case he disapproves the same as to location, <br />he shall designate some o~her suitable location. Upon approval, <br />the Grantee shall be issued a permit for work with the public <br />right-of-way, the fee for which shall be in accordance with <br />the applicable Sections of the City Code pertaining to charges <br />and fees. The Grantee, at its own costs.and expenses, shall <br />promptly replace and promptly re-lay any sidewalk or street <br />pavement displaced or damaged by it 'in s~ch manner as approved <br />by the City Engineer, and upon its failure promptly so to <br />do,' the Grantor may cause said work to be done and recover <br />the expense %hereof ~rom the Grantee. All structures aut/~orized <br />by this ordinance shall be so placed as not to unreasonably <br />interfere withthe safety and convenience of persons traveling <br />on or over the streets,'~highways, and other public places, <br />and so a~s not to desley, cause the distruction of, or do <br />unnecessary damage to trees or shrubs upon public grounds. <br /> <br /> 4. The Grantee shall upon request furnish and make <br />available to the Director of Planning, Inspections, and <br />Engineering of the City of Portsmouth, or other officers <br />chargedwith the-construction and maintenance~of streets, <br />sewers,~ water mains, and electrical work'maps'or other data <br />to show'the location, height, depth, and other necessary infor- <br />mation concerning the poles, wires, conduits, and other <br />facilities 'of the Grantee, constructed on or under streets <br />and public places of the City. <br /> <br /> 5. When joint occupancy of poles and other facilities <br />are in conformity with the best practices in operating a tele- <br />phone system, ithe Grantee shal~ permit the use of its poles <br />~nd facilities by, and shall use the poles and facilities of, <br />the company-f%%rnishing the electric power in the City, under <br />such arrangement-s as the two companies may agree. <br /> <br /> 6. The Grantee skall provide a suitable space when so <br />required by the Grantor~ not to exceed the equivalent of one <br />attachment on i~s poles and (1) duct in its conduits for the <br />free use for the public safety, telecommunication, systems <br />of the Grantee, provided the wires are placed and maintained <br />in such manner as may be prescribed by the Grantee, and are <br />not used to carry electric light or high tension current. <br />When necessary to be moved by the Grantee, the sa~ae shall be <br />replaced at the grantee's expense. The Grantor shall have <br />the right to .stencil upon the poles of the Grantee markings <br />indicating fire alar~L boxes. <br /> <br /> <br />
