Section 20-52.2. Peddlers of Perishable products. <br /> <br /> (a) Every person peddling perishable products as <br />defi~ed herein shall pay a business license tax of $50.00 <br />per year. <br /> <br /> (~b) A peddler of perishable products is defined as <br />any person who carries from place to place ice, wood, meats~ <br />milk, butter, eggs, pountry, fish, oysters, vegetables, <br />fruits, or other farm products not grown nor produced by him <br />and purchased by him for sale, and offers to sell or actually <br />sells and delivers same at retail. <br /> <br /> ~c) No peddler of perishable products shall be permitted, <br />while doing business as a peddler of perishable products to <br />keep his vehicle in one location on the streets for a longer <br />period of time than ten C10) minutes, and shall not make sales <br />in front of or near a place of business where business si~lar <br />to that conducted by the peddler of perishable products is <br />transacted. Any person violating the provisions of this sub- <br />sectiQn shall be guilty of a Class IV Misdemeanor for each <br />such offense. <br /> <br />Section 20-52.3. Itinerant Merchant or Itinerant Vendor. <br /> <br /> Every person who shall engage in, do or transact any <br />temporary transient business in the City for the sale of <br />goods, wares and/or merchandise, and who, for the purpose <br />of carrying on such business, shall hire, lease, use or <br />occupy any building or structure, motor vehicle, tent, car, <br />boat or public room, or any part thereof, including rooms <br />in hotels, lodging houses or house of private entertainment, <br />or in any street, alley or other public place~ shall pay a <br />business license tax of five hundred dollars ($500.00) per <br />month or fraction thereof. The term "itinerant merchant" <br />or "itinerant vendor" as defined in S54-809 of the Code of <br />Virginia, 1950, as amended, is adopted herein and incorporated <br />by reference. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia~ <br />at a meeting held February 28 , 1984. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
