Section 3t-230. Period of membership; cessation of mem- <br /> bership. <br /> <br /> (a) Each employee who becomes a member of the system <br />shall continue to be a member so long as he rema±ns an <br />employee and so long thereafte~ as he is entitled to future <br />benefits under any provision of the system. Not in limitation <br />but in amplification of the foregoing, the ~embership of any <br />person in the system shall cease: <br /> <br /> <1) Upon his termination of service as an e~ployee, other <br />than by retirement, before he has become vested under <br />the conditions as stated in Section 31-262; provided however, <br />that for the purposes of this section the entrance of a <br />member into authorized leave of absence shall not constitute <br />termination ~of service as an employee; provided the member <br />reenters service as an employee at the expiration of the <br />period of authorized leave, and the entrance of a member into <br />the armed forces of the United States shall not constitute <br />termination of service as an employee; provided the member's <br />service in such armed forces qualifies as creditable service <br />under Section 31-240; or <br /> <br /> (2) <br /> <br />or <br /> <br />Upon the cessation of his retirement allowance, <br />such event he immediately again becomes an employee; <br /> <br />(3) Upon his death. <br /> <br /> (b) Should any person terminate service as an employee <br />other than by retirement under the provisions of this Article, <br />after he has completed the number of years of creditable <br />service required for entitlement ho benefits under Section <br />31-262~ and should such person at any time again become an <br />employee, any benefits becoming payable under the provisions <br />of this Article shall be determined on the basis of the total <br />creditable years of service combined for all such periods <br />of employment. <br /> <br /> (c) Anything to the contrary herein notwithstanding, <br />the membership of any person shall not cease by virtue of the <br />fact that he became eligible for mermbership in the state supple- <br />mental retirement system upon empto~vn%ent by or transfer to <br />the offices of the commissioner of the revenue or the city <br />treasurer upon or within sixty (60) days of July t, 1959. <br />The membership of any such person shall cease if his employ- <br />ment in the offices of the commissioner of the revenue or the <br />city treasurer thereafter terminates for any reason other than <br />death. <br /> <br />12 <br /> <br /> <br />
