Section 23-352. Possession, sale of unapproved equipment. <br /> <br /> It shall .be unlawful for any person to possess with intent <br />to. sell or offer for sale, either s~parately or as a part of <br />'the equipment of a motor vehicle, or to use or have as equipment <br />upon a motor vehicle operated on a highway any'(a) lighting <br />device, warning device, signal device, safety glass or other <br />equipment on which approval is hereby required or anypart <br />or parts tending to change or alter the operation of such <br />device, glass or other equipment unless of a type that has <br />been submitted to and approved by the superintendent, or meets <br />or exceeds the standards and specifications of the Society of <br />Automotive Engineers, the American' National'Standards Institute, <br />Incorporated or the Federal Department of Transportation; or~ <br /> <br /> (b) any speedometer which~is not in good working order. <br /> <br />Section 23-365. Other permissible lights; police and fire <br /> department vehicles, emergency vehicles, etc. <br /> <br /> Any motor vehicle may be equipped with not to exceed <br />two ~21 fog lamps, one passing lamp, one driving !amp, two (2) <br />side lamps of not more than six ~6) candlepower; interior <br />light of not more than fifteen candlepower~'.vacant or desti- <br />nation signs and one steady-burning, white lamp for the nightime <br />illumination of exterior advertising, emitting a diffused <br />light of such an intensity as not to project a glaring or <br />dazzling light on vehicles operated as public carriers, and <br />signal lamps. <br /> <br /> only those vehicles listed in paragraph (a) of ~23-4 and <br />paragraph (.a) of this section and school buses may be equipped <br />with flashing, blinking or alternating red or red and white <br />emergency l~ghts of a type approved by the Superintendent. <br /> <br /> Vehicles used for the principal purpose of towing or <br />servicing disabled vehicles, or in constructing, maintaining <br />and ~epa±rlng highways or utilities on'or along public highways, <br />vehicles used for the principal purpose of removing haZardous <br />or polluting substances from state waters and drainage-areas, on <br />or along public highways for use only when performing such <br />duties and hi-rail vehicles may be equipped with flashing, <br />blinking or alternating amber warning lights of a type approved <br />by the Superintendent, but such lights on hi-rall vehicles <br />shall be activated only when such vehicles are operated on <br />railroad rails; provided, however, that vehicles used by <br />individuals for emergency snow removal purposes shall also <br />be allowed to use such ~mber warning ~ights during such snow <br />removal operation. <br /> <br />14 <br /> <br /> <br />
