thousand dollars ($100,000) in ~ny one accident., and subject . <br />to the limit for one person, o a !tm~t of three hundred thousand <br />dollars ~$300,000~ because of bodily injury to or death of two <br />or more persons in any-~one accident, and~to a l~it of. ten <br />thousand dollars [$10,000~ because of injury to or destruction <br />of property of others in any. one accident, or fti) a certificate <br />of self-insurance issued pursuant to $46.1-395 of the Code of <br />Virginia.. Such exemptions shall not, hewever, protect the <br />operator of any such vehicle from criminal prosecution for <br />conduct constituting reckless d±sregard of the safety of <br />persons and property. Nothing' in this section shall be con- <br />strued to release the operator, of any such vehicle from civil <br />liability for failure to use reasonable.care in such operation. <br /> <br />Section 23-147. Operation of vehicIe upon approach of emergency <br /> vehicle. . <br /> <br /> (.a} Upon the approach of any vehicle listedin paragraph <br />~a} ~ ~23-4 gi~ing audible signal' by siren, exhaust whistle,' <br />or alt horn designed to gi~e automatically'intermittent signals, <br />and displaying a flashing, blinking or alternating red light or <br />red and white lights, the driver of. every other vehicle.shall <br />immediately drive the same to a position as near as possible'and <br />parallel to the right-hand edge or curb, clear of any intersection <br />of highways, and shall stop.and remain %n such position unless <br />otherwis~ directed by a police or traffic officer Until such <br />vehicle shall have passed. <br /> <br /> (b). Thisprovision shall not operate to relieve the driver <br />of any such vehicle from the duty to drive with due regard for <br />the 'safety of all persons using the highway~ nor shall it <br />protect the driver of.any such vehicle from the consequences <br />of an arbitrary exercise of such right-of'way. <br /> <br /> (c) Violation of this section shall constitute failure to <br />yield the right-of-way. <br /> <br />Section 23-205. Parking, standing in front of pri~ate driveway, <br /> near fire hydrant, fire station or curb.' <br /> <br /> NO person shall park a vehicle or permit it to stand, <br />whether attended or unattended, upon a highway in front of <br />a private driveway or within fifteen (15} feet in either <br />direction of a fire hydrant or the entrance to a fire station, <br />or within fifteen (!5~ ~eet of the 'entrance to a building <br />housing rescue squad equipment or ambulances, provided such <br />buildings are plainly ~esignated, or within twenty (20) feet from <br />the intersection of curbl~nes or~ if none, then within fifteen. <br />(15) feet of the intersection of propert~ lines at-an ±nteY- <br />section of highways. <br /> <br />10 <br /> <br /> <br />
