It is the purpose and intent of this provi'sion to <br />encourage a more efficient use of the area's exis~i~g stock <br />of large single/family dwellings, to provide economic <br />support for resident families of limited income, and to <br />protect and preserve property values while preserving the <br />unique architecture of these structures. <br /> <br /> To promote the objectives of this section and of <br />Comprehensive Plan and the Zoning Chapter of the City <br />the following specific standards are set forth for <br />conversions. ~ <br /> <br />the <br />Code, <br /> <br /> (a) Location on the lot: A conversion may be in the <br />principal dwelling structure, provided such structure <br />existed in Olde Towne prior to October 24, 19'67, in-Port <br />Norfolk prior to April 26, 1983, and in Park View prior <br />April 1, 1984, and conforms with the other requirements of <br />this section. <br /> <br /> (b) Exterior alterations: A conversion may be <br />constructed within the existing dwelling structure without <br />an exterior addition. All entrances to accessory units <br />must be located in the rear or along side of dwelling <br />structures and be d~signed in a compatible manner to <br />minimize visual impact of the structures, and to the degree <br />reasonably feasible, the appearance of the building shall <br />be maintained as single-family dwelling. <br /> <br /> (c) Floor area requirement: The minimum floor area <br />of each dwelling unit within a principal dwelling structure <br />shall be slx hundred (600) square feet. <br /> <br /> (d) Number of conversion apartments per lot: The <br />number of permitte'd co'~ersion~dwelling units in Port <br />Norfolk shall be regulated as follows: <br /> <br />Number of Converted <br />Apartment Units Lot Size in Square Feet <br /> <br />t 5,600 11,199 <br />3 11,200 and over <br /> <br />Under no circumstances are more than three (3) <br />converted units to be permitted within one (1) <br />existing structure in Port Norfolk. <br /> <br />The number of permitted <br />units in Olde Towne and <br />regulated as follows: <br /> <br />conversion dwelling <br />Park View shall be <br /> <br /> <br />
