23-278, the city manager or his designee shall prDvide for <br />the regulation, control, operation and use of the parking <br />spaces and parking meters in such off-street parking lots. <br /> <br />Section 23-281. Designation of spaces and installation of <br />meters by city manager. <br /> <br /> In the off-street parking lo~s referred to in section <br />23-278, the city manager or his designee is hereby direcned <br />to have markings painted or placed for each parking space <br />defining the space set apart for the parking of a motor <br />vehicle and to have a parking meter placed or set to serve <br />each such parking space. <br /> <br />Section 23-283. How meters placed and installed. <br /> <br /> Parking meters installed pursuant to section 23-281 <br />shall be placed or set in such manner as to show or display <br />by a signal that the space served by such meter is or is not <br />legally in use. The parking meters shall be installed and <br />set to display upon deposit of the requisite coins of the <br />United States or the equivalent in tokens issued pursuant to <br />regulations promulgated by the city manager or his designee a <br />signal indicating legal parking for the designated period, <br />and the parking space shall then be legally occupied by the <br />motor vehicle during such period. <br /> <br />Section 23-285. Operation of meters; overtime parking <br /> generally. <br /> <br /> when any vehicle is parked in any metered space in any <br />off-street parking lot of the city designated in section <br />23-278, the driver shall, upon entering the parking space, <br />immediately deposit or cause to be deposited, a coin or coins <br />of the United States or the equivalent in tokens issued <br />pursuant to regulations promulgated by the city manager or <br />his designee in the meter provided for the space, as required <br />by the legend on the meter, and such parking space shall then <br />be lawfully occupied by the vehicle during the period as may <br />be indicated by the legend, which is herein prescribed as the <br />period of parking time allowed for the use of the space. If <br />the vehicle shall remain parked in such parking space beyond <br />the parking time limit during which the same is lawfully <br />occupied, the parking meters shall display a sign or signal <br />showing illegal parking, and in such event the vehicle <br />parking in the parking space shall be considered as parked <br />overtime and beyond the period of legal parking time, and the <br />parking of a vehicle overtime or beyond the period of legal <br />parking time in such parking space shall be unlawful. <br /> <br /> Section 23-288.
