115 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY PROPERTY <br />LOCATED ON THE NORTHERN SIDE OF MEANDER ROAD TO THE PORTSMOUTH <br />PORT AND INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City owns certain hereinafter-described real <br />property, which property is no longer required for public <br />purposes and is, hereby, declared to be excess property; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said property is adjacent to land owned by the <br />Portsmouth Port and Industrial Commission, being marketed for <br />private development; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said property may be added to the property owned <br />by Portsmouth Port and Industrial Commission in crder to <br />develop a more marketable parcel; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2.09 (c) of the Charter of <br />the City of Portsmouth, the City may convey real property to <br />the Commonwealth of Virginia or political subdivision thereof <br />without advertisement and receipt of bids; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Port and Industrial Commission is <br />a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best <br />interest of the City to convey said property to the Portsmouth <br />Port and Industrial Commission for the purpose of private <br />development. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virglnla, that the City Manager be, and he <br />hereby is, authorized to convey the hereinafter-described real <br />property located on the north side of Meander Road to the <br />Portsmouth Port and Industrial Commission, to-wit: <br /> <br /> Ail that certain piece or parcel of land, <br />situate, lying and being in the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, bounded and described as <br />follows: beginning at a point on the western <br />boundary of Chautauqua Avenue said point being <br />the intersection of the northern boundary of <br />-lot 1918 as shown on the plat of the Port <br /> Norfolk Land Company recorded in the Clerk's <br /> Office of the Circuit Court of the City of <br /> Chesapeake, Virginia, in Map Book 2, pages 90 <br /> and 91, and the western boundary of Chautauqua <br /> Avenue; thence in a westerly direction 320' to <br /> a point on the center line of the former <br /> Maryland Avenue which was closed by an <br /> ordinance adopted by the Council of the City <br /> <br /> <br />
