94 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE EMERGENCY OPERATIONS PLAN OF THE CITY <br />OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia <br />recognizes the need for a planned response to extraordinary <br />emergency situations; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Emergency Services and Disaster Law of 1973 <br />requires that the State and each county and city within the state <br />develop and maintain a current Emergency Operations Plan (EOP); <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Emergency Services has <br />received and approved the local Emergency Operations Plan; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which <br />partially funds the Emergency Services and Communications <br />Department also requires official approval of the EOP by City <br />Council. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia that the Council does hereby approve the <br />Emergency Operations Plan developed by the Emergency Services <br />Coordinator for the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED tha~ the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth authorizes the City Manager to submit this plan and <br />any other information requested as a condition of continued <br />Federal Emergency Management Agency funding. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia <br />at a meeting held September 22, 1987. <br /> <br />TESTE: <br /> <br />CITY CLERK <br /> <br /> <br />
