A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT AN <br />APPLICATION FOR FUNDING UNDER ~HE VIRGINIA SHELTER GRANTS <br />PROGRAM. <br /> <br />41 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of <br />Housing and Community Development, has issued a Notice of <br />Funding Availability and Reauest for Proposals under the <br />Virginia Shelter Grants Program; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, grants are <br />government that may then <br />recipients; and <br /> <br />available to local units of <br />distribute such funds to nonprofit <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, an application for a grant under this Program <br />has been prepared to permit PARC Place Shelter to receive <br />funds to construct a fourteen-space off-street parking lot <br />in order to comply with the use permit granted them by this <br />Council; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the application requests twenty thousand, <br />nine hundred seventy ($20~970.) dollars in federal funds <br />for construction of the lot and a one for one local match <br />will be provided from the PARC Place Shelter operating <br />budget. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and <br />he hereby is, authorized to submit an application for an <br />Emergency Shelter Care Program Grant on behalf of the PARC <br />Place Shelter and to execute any documents as may be <br />required thereby. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, authorizes th~ awarding of a <br />sub-grant to PARC Place Shelter to operate the funded <br />project and agrees to monitor and oversee their activities <br />as prescribed by the grant. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held April 28, 1987. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
