1988-44 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 1973, BY AMENDING SECTIONS 14-39, 14-40 (a) AND <br />14-42 THEREOF, PERTAINING TO REFUSE COLLECTION FEES; AND TO <br />REPEAL SECTION 14-41 THEREOF, PERTAINING TO DUMPMASTER <br />CONTAINERS. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Sections 14-39, 14-40 (a) and 14-42 of the Code <br />of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended and <br />reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 14-39. <br /> <br />Rates for dwelling units and certain other <br />establishments. <br /> <br /> The service charge for the collection and disposal of <br />trash and garbage from any dwelling unit and any other <br />establishment not subject to the charges imposed by Section <br />14-40 shall be at the rate of six dollars ($6.00) per month <br />per dwelling unit or in the case of such other establishments, <br />at the rate of six dollars ($6.00) per month for each such <br />other establishmenu. The charges imposed under this section <br />shall be billed with the statement rendered for water and <br />sewer charges. <br /> <br />Section 14-40. Rates for standard containers. <br /> <br /> (a) Where garbage and refuse are stored in thirty-two <br />(32) gallon containers or the equivalent thereof, the charge <br />for each three month period shall be based upon the volume of <br />refuse normally generated for the particular class of <br />business, and the rate shall be as follows: <br /> <br />Collections Standard containers Minimum charge <br />per week per collection per quarter <br /> <br />2 0 to 4 $ 18.00 <br />2 5 to 8 36.00 <br />2 9 to ]2 54.00 <br /> <br />3 0 co 4 30.00 <br />3 5 to 8 60.00 <br />3 9 to 12 90.00 <br /> <br />4 0 to 4 42.00 <br />4 5 to 8 84.00 <br />4 9 to 12 126.00 <br /> <br />5 0 to 4 54.00 <br />5 5 to 8 108.00 <br />5 9 no 12 162.00 <br /> <br /> <br />
