building, structure, or portion thereof, and shall cause such <br />building, s~ructure, or portion thereof, to be demolished and <br />removed from the lot or property. The Code Official shall <br />thereafter transmit no the City Treasurer a statement of all <br />costs incurred including a $35.00 fee ko cover the <br />administrative expenses of the Code Official, which costs <br />shall be added to the taxes assessed against the real property <br />on which the nuisance existed and shall be collected with such <br />naxes by any manner prescribed by law for the collection of <br />City Taxes. Such costs shall also be docketed in the nuisance <br />abatement lien docket book maintained in the Office of nhe <br />City ~reasurer as a lien against the real proper~y om which <br />the nuisance existed, which lien shall exist until removed by <br />payment of said costs in full. <br /> <br />Section 6-43. Registration and permits required. <br /> <br /> Whenever any building in the City is or hereafter becomes <br />vacant or unoccupied and the building or any of ins doors, <br />windows or other openings cannon be securely closed by the <br />conventional means used in the design of the building, as <br />required by Section 6-42 herein, the owner of SUCh building <br />shall, within fifteen days nhereafter, secure said building <br />against unauthorized entry by boarding up or b~ some other <br />approved method; shall register such building with the <br />Director of Environmental Services or his designee; and shall <br />obtain therefore a permit. The term "Director" as used in <br />this article shall refer to the Director of Environmental <br />Services. When such registration is accomplished and the fees <br />as set forth in Section 6-45 hereafter are ~aid, the Director <br />or his designee shall issue a permit allowing the building to <br />be maintained in a boarded-up condition for a period of one <br />month from that date. <br /> <br /> If the building is to remain vacant for more than the <br />month for which the permit was issued, the owner shall renew <br />said permit on or before its expiration date by certifying to <br />the Director or his designee that the building is secure <br />against unauthorized entry and that the information provided <br />in the initial registration remains unchanged. The permit <br />must be obtained or renewed for each month or portion thereof <br />during which the building is vacant or unoccupied and unable <br />to be secured by conventional means. A permit shall be issued <br />by the Director or his designee upon receipt by the Director <br />or his designee of the required letter of certification. A <br />new registration shall be required whenever the information <br />provided in the initial registration changes. The new <br />registration shall be filed with the Director or his designee <br />within ten days after such change. <br /> <br /> 2.
