Superintendent. Only law enforcement vehicles may be equipped <br />with flashing, blinking or alternating blue or blue and red <br />emergency lights of types approved by the superintendent. <br />Vehicles permitted by this section to be equipped with <br />flashing, blinking or alternating red, red and white, blue or <br />blue and red emergency lights may be equipped with the means <br />to flash their headlamps when their emergency warning lights <br />are activated if; (i) the headlamps are wired to allow either <br />the upper beam or lower beam to flash, but not both, and (ii) <br />the headlamp system includes a switch or device which prevents <br />flashing of headlamps when headlamps are required to be <br />lighted under Section 22-183 of this Code. <br /> <br /> (k) Privately owned passenger cars used for home <br />delivery of commercially prepared food may be equipped with <br />one steady-burning white light for the nighttime illumination <br />of a sign identifying the business delivering the food. Such <br />sign shall not utilize primarily green, red or blue colors. <br />Such sign shall not exceed eighteen inches in height nor have <br />more than four sides, no side of which shall exceed fifteen by <br />twenty-four inches. Such light shall emit diffused <br />illumination of such an intensity as not to protect a glaring <br />or a dazzling light. Such light may only be illuminated <br />during delivery. <br /> <br /> (L) A violation of any provision of this section shall <br />constitute a Class 1 misdemeanor. <br /> <br />Section 22-238. <br /> <br />Same-Commercial vehicles operating on certain <br />highways. <br /> <br /> No commercial vehicle shall exceed one hundred two (102) <br />inches in width when operating on any federal interstate and <br />defense highway, or on any qualifying federal aid primary <br />highway designated by the Commonwealth Transportation Board. <br />The width limitation in this section shall not include <br />rearview mirrors, turn signal lamps, handholds or cab entry <br />and egress, splash-suppressant devices and load-induced tire <br />bulge. Safety devices, with the exception of rearview <br />mirrors, shall not extend more than three (3) inches on each <br />side of a vehicle. Such vehicles shall not be denied <br />reasonable access to terminals, facilities for food, fuel, <br />repairs and rest, except as designated, based on safety <br />considerations, by the Commonwealth Transportation Board. <br />Household goods carriers and any tractor truck semitrailer <br />combination in which the semitrailer has a length of no more <br />than twenty-eight and one-half fee and which operates as part <br />of a tractor truck semitrailer combination shall not be denied <br />reasonable access to points of loading and unloading, except <br />as designated, based on safety considerations, by the <br />Commonwealth Transportation Board. For the purposes of this <br />section, a commercial vehicle is defined as a loaded or empty <br />motor vehicle, trailer or semitrailer designed or regularly <br />used for carrying freight merchandise, or more than ten <br /> <br /> <br />
