AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 27 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1988, BY AMENDING SECTION 27-51 THEREOF, <br />PERTAINING TO UNCLAIMED PERSONAL PROPERTY. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 27-51 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, 1988, be amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 27-51. Definition. <br /> <br /> As used in this article, the term "unclaimed personal <br />property" shall mean any personal property belonging to <br />another which has been acquired by a law enforcement officer <br />pursuant to his duties, which is not needed in any criminal <br />prosecution, which has not been claimed by its rightful owner <br />and which the state treasurer has indicated will be declined <br />if remitted under the Virginia Uniform Disposition of <br />Unclaimed Property Act (~ 55-210.1 et seq. of the Code of <br />V~rginia). Such term shall not apply to bicycles, motor <br />vehicles and their contents, contraband items, lost and found <br />items or currency. <br /> <br />2.
