Sec. 40-41.23. United States government USG district. <br /> <br /> A district exclusively for military installations owned by the United States <br />Government. <br /> <br />Sec. 40-42. ZoninE maps adopted. <br /> <br /> The boundaries of each of these districts are hereby established as shown on the <br />series of map sheets ~titled "Zoning Map, portsmouth, Virginia," dated February, <br />1991, which accompanies and is hereby declared to be a part of this chapter, the said <br />series of' map sheets and each of them hereinafter being referred to as the Zoning <br />Map. The "Zoning Map, Portsmouth, Virginia," dated January, 1961, and all maps <br />subsequent thereto and prior to February, 1991 shall be preserved for historical <br />purposes in the Planning Department. The city council may also adopt special zoning <br />maps showing greater detail or showing sub-districts for the Historic Districts, <br />Downtown Districts or other areas of the city. Such special maps shall be considered <br />a part of the Zoning Map for purposes of this ordinance. The originals of such maps <br />shall be treated in the same way as the Original Zoning Map, in accordance with the <br />following section, and shall be considered a part of the Original Zoning Map. <br /> <br />See. 40,42.1. Ol-i~,~! zoning map. <br /> <br /> One set of the series of map sheets adopted in Section 40-42 shall be kept on file <br />without alteration in the office of the Planning Department. This set shall be called <br />the Griginal Zening Map. Additional Sets of said series of map sheets shall be filed <br />in the office of the Planning Department and in the Department of Environmental <br />Services. Such copies of the zoning map shall be altered from time to time so as to <br />indicate amendments adopted by the city council. Each such alteration shall be <br />identified by number to the ordinance authorizing the same. <br /> <br />See. 40-43. Permitted uses. <br /> <br /> The uses permitted by right or with a use permit or in each zone shall be <br />determined from the Use Schedules in this Article, except that the uses in the <br />following special districts shall be determined from the applicable sections of this <br />Chapter: all Historic Districts; Preservation District, P-l; and U.S. Government <br />District, USG. <br /> <br /> Other than those uses. expressly allowed by Section 40-47, Section 40-52.1, this <br />Section or the Use Schedules which it adopts, the only lawful uses of property in the <br />City of Portsmouth are the following: specified uses in the Preservation P-1 District; <br />specified uses in the respective Historic Districts; U.S. Government uses in the USG <br />District; and uses which were legally established prior to the adoption of this <br />Chapter or its predecessors but which now are inconsistent with the requirements <br />of this Chapter, if and only if such uses meet the requirements of Section 40-163. <br />Should any properties or any portion thereof classified as USG on the official zoning <br />map revert to ownership by any owner other than the United States government, <br />such lands will automatically be classified in the RS-150 Zoning District. <br /> <br />15 ~J <br /> <br /> <br />
