Section 40-61.2. Sign conditions supplement to tables <br /> 40-61.1-1 and 40-61.1-2. <br /> <br />(3) <br /> <br />FREESTANDING SIGNS shall be allowed in the districts <br />indicated, subject to the height limits indicated. <br />All parts of any freestanding signs shall be set <br />back a minimum of seven (7) feet from the front <br />property line. The minimum sign setback from <br />interstate highways and expressways designated by <br />city council shall be one hundred (100) feet. <br />Freestanding signs on property adjoining property <br />which is included in any RS, RT, ~ or historic <br />zoning district shall be set back from the property <br />line adjoining such residential property by a <br />distance at least equal to the height of the sign. <br />There shall not be more than one (1) freestanding <br />sign per zone lot or, if the zone lot has frontage <br />on more than one public street, one additional <br />freestanding sign shall be allowed for each such <br />street in excess of one. One freestanding sign may <br />contain advertising messages for any number of <br />businesses. <br /> <br />Section 40-71.2. Parking lot screening and landscaping <br /> requirements. <br /> <br />(e) <br /> <br />Where off-street parking areas abut any public <br />street or walk, landscaping shall be provided <br />between the parking area and the street right of <br />way. This landscaping shall consist of one of the <br />following: <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />A buffer strip of land meeting the requirements <br />of landscaping group 3; or <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />A strip of land at least fiv~ (5) feet in <br />width, containing an earth berm at least thirty <br />(30) inches in height above grade. The berm <br />shall be completely covered with any <br />combination of shrubs, grass, or other living <br />ground cover and shall not exceed a slope of <br />thirty (30) degrees; or <br /> <br />(3) A strip of land at least ~ive (5) feet in width <br /> and a solid brick, stone or architectural block <br /> wall at least thirty (30) inches in height. At <br /> least one shrub or vine shall be planted <br /> abutting the wall within each ten foot-long <br /> section. A row or rows of shrubs at least <br /> twenty-four (24) inches high at time of <br /> planting which will result in an opaque screen <br /> within one year of planting may be substituted <br /> for the solid wall; or <br /> <br /> <br />
