estate sign or which does not qualify under the standards for name plates and <br />historical markers in Article V. <br /> <br /> SIGN, PROJECTING. Any sign other than a wall sign affixed to any building or wall <br />having a principal function other than support of the sign whose leading edge <br />extends beyond such building or wall. <br /> <br />SIGN, ROOF. Any sign erected or constructed wholly upon and over the roof of <br />any building and supported solely on the roof structure. <br /> <br /> SIGN, WALL. Any sign painted on or attached to the outside wall of any building <br />and supported by such wall or building and which displays only one advertising <br />surface. <br /> <br /> SIGN, WINDOW. Any sign or letters, pictures, symbol or combination thereof to <br />communicate information about a business, service, commodity ~ event ~ sale or other <br />activity placed inside a window or upon window panes or glass and which is intended <br />to be seen from the exterior. <br /> <br /> STORY. That portion of a building wholly a~oveground included between the upper <br /> surface of any floor and the upper surface of the floor next above; or that portion <br /> of a building immediately under the roof having a floor area that is fifty (50) percent <br /> or more of the floor area of the story immediately below and with a ceiling height of <br /> at least eight (8) feet. <br /> <br /> STREET. A strip of lend'or way subject to vehieuiar traffic (which may also serve <br /> in part as a way for pedestrian traffic) fifty (50) feet or more in width and providing <br /> direct or indirect access to property including but not limited to roads, lanes, <br /> drives, trails, courts, places, terraces, alleys, avenues, highways, boulevards, or <br /> any other thoroughfare. <br /> <br /> STREET, ARTERIAL. A street designed to provide for either primary or secondary <br /> through traffic movement. Such streets shall be primarily for connection between <br /> primary highways, major secondary roads, other arterials or circumferential <br /> highways. <br /> <br /> STREET, MINOR. A street primarily designed to provide access to abutting <br />. properties or lots within a subdivision but may also connect with streets in adjoining <br /> subdivisions. <br /> <br /> STREET, PRIVATE. A street which lies wholly on private property and which has <br /> not been dedicated to any local government. <br /> <br /> STREET, PUBLIC. An existing street or platted street dedicated and accepted for <br /> the use of the general public, graded and paved or to be graded and paved in order <br /> that every person has the right to pass and use it at all times, for all normal <br /> purposes of travel, transportation or parking to which it is adopted and devoted. <br /> STREET WIDTH. The shortest distance between the lines which delineate the <br /> right-of-way of a street. <br /> <br /> SUBDIVISION.
