1991-68 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 26 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1988, BY AMENDING SECTION 26-53 THEREOF, <br />PERTAINING TO SOLICITATION OF CONTRIBUTIONS. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 26-53 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1988, be amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 26-53. Penalty for violations of article. <br /> <br /> Any person who willfully and knowingly violates or causes <br />to be violated any provision of this article shall be guilty <br />of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be <br />punished for the first offense to pay a fine of not less than <br />one hundred dollars ($100.00) and not more than one thousand <br />dollars ($1,000.00) or by confinement in jail for not more <br />than SlX (6) months, or both, and for the second and any <br />subsequent offense by fine of not less than five hundred <br />dollars ($500.00) and not more than two thousand five hundred <br />dollars ($2,500.00) or by confinement in jail for not more <br />than one (1) year, or both. <br /> <br /> 2.
