AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 6 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1988, BY ADDING SECTION 6-75(c) THEP~OF, <br />PERTAINING TO THE IMPROPER OPERATION OF A BOAT. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 6-75 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1988, be amended by adding thereto <br />paragraph (c) to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 6-75. <br /> <br />Reckless operation of boat or manipulation <br />of skis, etc. <br /> <br /> (c) Operating boat in an improper manner; penalty. <br />Notwithstanding the provisions of paragraphs (a) and (b) <br />above, upon the trial of any person charged with reckless <br />boating where the degree of culpability is slight, the court <br />in its discretion may find the accused not guilty of reckless <br />boating but guilty of improper boating. Improper boating <br />shall be punishable as a Class 3 misdemeanor. <br /> <br /> 2. That this ordinance shall take effect on July 1, <br />1991. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held on June 25, 1991. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
