GROUP HOME FOR CHILDREN, A residential facility housing and providing <br />habiHtative services ~o nine or more persons under the age of 22 who are <br />developmentally disabled, mentally ill or mentally retarded, <br />including, but not limited to, facilities qualified to be licensed by the Virginia <br />Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services. <br /> <br /> GROUP HOUSING PROJECT. A group housing project is any project consisting of <br />more than one residential unit on one or more sites, where either: the building <br />arrangement as proposed is such that the property cannot be subdivided into <br />conventional streets and lots that meet the requirements of this Chapter and Chapter <br />33 of the City Code; or the building arrangement as proposed is such that the <br />buildings and/or lots will not conform to all of the applicable requirements of this <br />Chapter. <br /> <br /> HALFWAY HOUSE. A use providing board and room, recreational, counseling and <br />other rehabilitative services to individuals who, by reason of their participation in <br />work release, prerelease or probationary programs or similar programs from state <br />or federal institutions and are under the supervision of a court, state or local <br />agency, and require specialized attention and care in order to achieve personal <br />independence. <br /> <br /> HOME OCCUPATION. Any use conducted within a dwelling, which use is clearly <br />incidental and secondary to the use of the dwelling purposes and is conducted in <br />conformance with the applicable standards of this Chapter. <br /> <br /> HOUSING FOR THE ELDERLY. Housing designated exclusively as housing to be <br />occupied by families in which the head of the household is sixty-two (62) years of <br />age or over; provided, however, that no more than ten (10) percent of the housing <br />in a given project may be occupied by persons without regard to age. <br /> <br />INDUSTRIAL USE. Any use permitted by this code in an industrial district. <br /> <br /> JUNK. Old or scrap copper, brass, rope, rags, batteries, paper, trash, rubber <br />debris, waste, or junked, dismantled or wrecked automobiles, or parts thereof, <br />iron, steel, and other old or scrap ferrous or nonferrous material. <br /> <br /> JUNKYARD. An establishment or place of business which is maintained, operated <br />or used for storing, keeping, buying or selling junk, or for the maintenance or <br />operation of an automobile graveyard, but not including a "scrap processor" as <br />herein defined. <br /> <br />KENNEL. Any place in or at which dogs are kept under any one or more of the <br />following conditions: <br /> <br />l) More than five (5) dogs of more than six (6) months of age; <br /> <br /> 2) Any number of dogs that are kept for the purpose of sale or rental, or <br /> in connection with the boarding, care or breeding for which any fee is <br /> charged. <br /> <br />LOT. A parcel of land or a plot or portion of a subdivision, the boundaries of which <br />have been established by some legal instrument of record and which is recognized <br /> <br /> <br />
