DWELLING ,. ATTACHED ROW. A dwelling which is located on a separate zone lot <br />but which is .attached to other dwellings by a common or party wall, in a group of at <br />least three. <br /> <br /> DWELLING, DETACHED. A dwelling which is located on a separate zone lot and <br />which is freestanding and not attached to any other dwellings or buildings, except <br />accessory buildings on the same zone lot. <br /> <br /> DWELLING, MULTI-FAMILY. A residential building containing three or more <br />dwellings. Multi-family dwellings may involve units for rent (commonly called <br />"apartments") or for sale as condominiums under Virginia law. <br /> <br /> DWELLING, TWO-FAMILY. A building containing two dwellings, located on either <br />one or two zone lots. The term "duplex" refers to a two-family dwelling for the <br />purposes of this chapter. <br /> <br />ERECT. To build, construct, attach, hang, place, suspend or affix and shall also <br />include the painting of wall signs. <br /> <br /> FAMILY CARE RESIDENCE FOR ADULTS. A residential facility, for which the <br />Virginia Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse <br />Services is the licensing authority, in which no more.than eight persons who are 22 <br />years of age or older and who are developmentally disabled, mentally ill or mentally <br />retarded reside with one or more resident counselors or staff persons. For the <br />purposes of this chapter, mental illness and developmental disability shall not <br />include current illegal use of or addiction to a controlled substance as defined in <br />Title 54.1 of the Code of Virginia. <br /> <br /> FAMILY CARE RESIDENCE FOR CHILDREN. A residential facility, for which the <br />Virginia Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse <br />Services is the licensing authority, in which no more than eight persons who are <br />under 22 years of age and who are developmentally disabled, mentally ill or mentally <br />retarded reside wi~h one or more resident counselors or staff persons. For the <br />purposes of this chapter, mental illness and developmental disability shall not <br />include current illegal use of or addiction to a controlled substance as defined in <br />Title 54.1 of the Code of Virginia. <br /> <br /> FLEA MARKET. Any premises where new or used personal property, including <br />but not limited to, household goods or furnishings, personal effects, tools, art <br />work, small household appliances, motor vehicle parts or accessories, and similar <br />merchandise, objects or equipment are sold or displayed in open air or in partially <br />enclosed booths or stalls, not within a wholly enclosed building, or from a motor <br />vehicle or trailer, as defined in Section 46.1-1 of the Code of Virginia, 1950. The <br />term "flea market" shall not be deemed to include an establishment or business whose <br />primary purpose is to sell motor vehicles. <br /> <br /> GROUP HOME FOR ADULTS. A residential facility housing and providing <br />habilitative services to nine or more persons who are 22 years of age or older and <br />who are developmentally disabled, mentally ill or mentally retarded, including, but <br />not limited to, facilities qualified to be licensed by the Virginia Department of Mental <br />Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services. <br /> <br /> <br />
