(8) <br /> <br />The fourth Thursday and the day following the fourth <br />Thursday in November: Thanksgiving holiday to honor <br />and give thanks in each person's own manner for the <br />blessings bestowed upon the people of Virginia and <br />honoring the first Thanksgiving in 1619; <br /> <br />(9) <br /> <br />The afternoon of the twenty-fourth day of December <br />(or the day before the holiday of Christmas Day is <br />observed herein): Christmas Eve one-half day <br />holiQay. <br /> <br />(10) The twenty-fifth day of December: Christmas Day. <br /> <br /> (b) ~nenever any of the aforesai~ holidays shall fall on <br />a Saturday they shall be observed on the preceding Friday, and <br />whenever they shall fall on a Sunday they shall be observed on <br />the following Monday. No other holidays shall be observed by <br />either state employees partly engaged in city work or by city <br />employees except when special occasions are authorized by the <br />city manager. <br /> <br />2.
