(a)

LANDSCAPING GROUP 1 (Opaque Screen). A buffer strip
of land at least fifteen (15) feet wide providing
screening that is opaque from the ground to a height
of six (6) feet, with intermittent visual
obstructions from the opaque portion to a height of
at least twenty (20) feet. The opaque portion of
the screen is intended to exclude all visual contact
between uses and to create a ~strong impression of
spatial separation. The opaque screen may be
composed of a wooden fence; a brick, stone, or
masonry wall; landscaped earth berm; planted
vegetation or existing vegetation. The opaque
portion of the screen must be opaque in all seasons
of the year. Compliance of ~lanted vegetative
screens will be judged on the basis of the average
mature height and density of foliage of the subject
species or field observation of existing vegetation,
except that, at the time of planting, the fully
opaque portion of the screen should be of sufficient
height and density to provide complete visual
obstruction within one (1) year. At maturity, the
portion of intermittent visual obstructions shall
not contain any completely unobstructed openings
more than ten (10) feet wide. The portion of
intermittent visual obstructions may contain
deciduous plants. Trees planted in the portion of
intermittent visual obstruction shall be at least
one and one-half (1 1/2) inches in caliper, measured
at a point located six inches above existing grade,
at the time of planting.

(b)

LANDSCAPING GROUP 2 (Semi-Opaque Screen). A screen
meeting the specifications of Landscaping Group 1 in
subsection (a) above, except that the screen must be
opaque from the ground to a height of three (3)
feet.

(c)

LANDSCAPING GROUP 3 (Broken Screen). A buffer strip
of land at least five (5) feet in width containing a
combination of deciduous and coniferous trees and
shrubs designed to provide some buffering. Trees
must be at least one and one-half (1 1/2) inches in
caliper? measured at a point located six inches
above existing grade, at the time of planting. At
least one (1) such tree shall be planted in each
twenty (20) foot-long section of the buffer strip.
Shrubs shall be at least twenty-four (24) inches in
height at time of planting. At least one (1) such
shrub shall be planted in each six (6) foot-long
section of the buffer strip.
