One in every eight accessible parking spaces but not <br />less than one parking space must be at least, eight <br />(8) feet in width, have an eight (8) foot wide <br />pedestrian access aisle and have a vertical <br />clearance of ninety-eight (98) inches. Additional <br />parking spaces for persons with disabilities must <br />have pedestrian access aisles at least five (5) feet <br />in width. Parking spaces for persons with <br />disabilities must be located nearest or most <br />convenient to the main entrance for wheelchair <br />access. These parking spaces must be labeled in <br />accordance with standards of the Americans with <br />Disabilities Act and any ~evisions approved by the <br />Federal Highway Administration. <br /> <br />Section 40-71.2. Parking lot screening and landscaping <br /> requirements. <br /> <br /> In all zoning districts where four (4) or more off-street <br />parking spaces are permitted or required, the following <br />parking facility requirements shall be observed: <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />Any off-street parking area adjoining a parcel used <br />for residential purposes or vacant property zoned <br />RS, RT, ~, Downtown Residential or Historic <br />Residential shall be screened from view from the <br />adjacent residential parcels with a landscaped <br />buffer in accordance with Landscaping Group t. When <br />a use permit is required for the parking area, City <br />Council may approve a modification of this <br />requirement. <br /> <br />(d) <br /> <br />In the Historic or Downtown D-1 zoning districts, <br />the owner, tenant, or agent of an off-street parking <br />area which accommodates more than four (4) <br />automobiles or vehicles shall be required to provide <br />a minimum total landscaped area equal to not less <br />than ten (10) percent of the total area of all <br />parking spaces and drives in the parking area, said <br />landscaping to be in accordance with Landscaping <br />Group 4. <br /> <br />Section 40-73. Landscaping groups. <br /> <br /> Where landscaping according to the specifications of a <br />Landscaping Group is required by this Chapter or is included <br />as a condition of any permit or approval granted under this <br />Chapter, the design and planting of any landscaping shall meet <br />the standards of the designated Landscaping Group. The City <br />of Portsmouth's Landscaping Planting and Protection Manual <br />includes suggested planting patterns and species that will <br />achieve the standards of these Landscaping Groups. <br /> <br /> <br />
