REGULATIONS FOR ADMINISTRATION <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Employees Classified <br /> <br />On and after July 1, 1994, all employees of <br />shall be classified according uo the kind and <br />by them and as provided in this ordinance. <br /> <br />the City of Portsmouth <br />hype of work performed <br /> <br />SECTION 2. Classification and ComDensation <br /> <br />Ail officers and regular full-nlme and regular part-time employees <br />of the Ciny, excepn those mennioned in Section 13 of this ordinance, <br />shall be classified and graded zn accordance with the CLASSES OF <br />POSITIONS ASSIGNED TO PAY GRADES portion of this ordinance. The <br />compensation of eack classified employee shall be determined <br />according to the PAY SCHEDULE portion and other sections of this <br />ordinance. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. Salary and Class Specification A8~istratio~ <br /> <br />{a) <br /> <br />The Departmenn of Personnel shall maintain a continuing salary <br />administration program to insure internal equity among positzon <br />classifications. The salary adminisuration program shall <br />include salary surveys, reclassifications, audits, and analyses <br />of turnover. <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />The Director of Personnel shall approve all position <br />reclassifications, additions (new positions), or deletions <br />prior no the action being taken. <br /> <br />When an employee is reclassified, they will be placed in the <br />new classification, grade, and step that maintains the <br />employee's currenu salary. In no case will an employee be paid <br />au less than the A seep for that classification <br /> <br />The City Manager may authorize variations in the application of <br />this section. <br /> <br />SECTION 4. Compensation and Salary AdjustmenP <br /> <br />On and afner July 1, 1994, the salary steps for the respectmve <br />positions set forth in Section 2 of this ordinance shall constitute <br />the plan of compensation for all persons classified under this <br />Section: (see PAY SCHEDULE~ . <br /> <br />(a) General Increases <br /> <br />The City Manager may recommend the granting of General <br />Increases for all persons classified under this Plan. <br /> <br />Such General Increases will be applied directly no the PAY <br />SCHEDULE such the% each grade and step shall reflect the <br />increase. <br /> <br />-2- <br /> <br /> <br />
