(d) The piping system within the filter room shall be <br />securely anchored and Shall be color coded as follows: <br /> <br />Freshwater--Blue (to check valve). <br /> <br />Backwash--Black. <br /> <br />Influent--Yellow. <br /> <br />Effluent--White. <br /> <br />Vacuum--Orange. <br /> <br /> (e) Ail piping shall be designed to reduce friction <br />losses to a minimum and to carry the required quantity of water <br />at a maximum velocity not to exceed ten (10) feet per second <br />(3.05 meters per second) for discharge piping, except for <br />copper wire where the velocity for piping ~hould not exceed <br />eight (8) feet per second (2.44 meters per second). Suction <br />velocity for all piping should not exceed six (6) feet per <br />second (1.83 meters per second). Design system head <br />calculations shall be required to confirm the adequacy of <br />proposed pipe sizing and pump selection. <br /> <br /> (f) A permanent specification placard shall be <br />conspicuously displayed on or adjacent to the filter and shall <br />be properly lighted. Specifications, shall be printed or typed <br />and readily legible. The following information shall be <br />included on the placard: <br /> <br />(1) Name and location of facility; <br /> <br />(2) Date of construction; <br /> <br />(3) Capacity in gallons (liters); <br /> <br />(4) Water surface area in square feet (square meters); <br /> <br />(5) Turnover rate in hours; and <br /> <br />(6) Rate of flow in gallons per minute (liters per <br />minute). <br /> <br />See. 34-17.
