(d) Rate of flow indicators. The recirculating system <br />shall be equipped with a rate of flow indicator, which has been <br />approved by the administrative authority. The indicator shall <br />read in gallons per minute or liters per minute and shall be <br />located to indicate the rate of flow of filtered water being <br />returned to the pool. The indicator shall be of fixed <br />calibration and properly sized so as to indicate the designed <br />rate of flow at approximately midscale. <br /> <br /> (e) Hair and lint strainer. At all installations where <br />it is possible for water from the pool to pass through the <br />filters, a strainer shall be provided on the suction side of <br />the pump to prevent hair, lint and other matter from reaching <br />the pump and filters. Strainers shall be corrosion-resistant <br />with openings not over one-eighth inch in size providing a free <br />flow area at least four (4) tzmes the area of the pump suction <br />line at the strainer connecEion and shall be accessible for <br />frequent cleaning. <br /> <br />Sec. 34-16. Piping systems. <br /> <br /> (a) The piping <br />of N.S.F. approved <br />following operations: <br /> <br />system for public pools shall be composed <br />materials or equal, designed for the <br /> <br />(1) Filling the pool; <br /> <br /> (2) Washing each filter to waste; <br /> <br /> (3) Recalculating the pool water <br />equipment; <br /> <br />through Ehe treatment <br /> <br />(4) Backwashing no waste; <br /> <br />(5) Operating suction cleaner; <br /> <br />(6) Emptying the pool; and <br /> <br />(7) Draining the system. <br /> <br /> (b). There shall be no direc5 connections between the pool <br />recirculating system and the sewer or the potable water supply. <br />Fill spouts may be located under diving boards, under guard <br />chairs or adjacent to pool ladder handrails. Fill spouts shall <br />be installed a minimum of nwo (2) inches (5.08 centimeters) <br />above the coping, or submersed fill spouts shall be equzpped <br />with a backflow preventer. <br /> <br /> (c) Waste from backwashing shall be discharged into the <br />sanitary sewer or in a manner approved by the administrative <br />authority. <br /> <br /> <br />
