R-96-43 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE PARTICIPATION OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH IN THE FORWARD HAMPTON ROADS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT <br />ALLIANCE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the mission of Forward Hampton Roads, the <br />economic development division of the Hampson Roads Chamber of <br />Commerce, is to improve the performance and global <br />competitiveness of Hampton Roads; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, toward this end, Forward Hampton Roads has <br />proposed a public-private partnership composed of the five <br />Southside Hampton Roads cities, to-wit Chesapeake, Norfolk, <br />Suffolk, Virginia Beach and Portsmouth comprising the public <br />component; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this public component would contribute half of <br />the anticipated $10,000,000.00 funding for the next five years; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City of Portsmouth hereby <br />commits to participate in the public-private partnership known <br />as the Forward Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held on August 27, 1996. <br /> <br /> Teste: <br /> <br /> <br /> City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
