R-96-44 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE ACQUISITION AND USE OF THE <br />ES-2000 ACCU-VOTE VOTING SYSTEM BY THE PORTSMOUTH GENERAL <br />REGISTRAR. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Portsmouth Electoral Board has determined <br />that it is in the best interest of the City and its voters to <br />improve the method of collecting and counting votes in the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, by changing to a more modern system, <br />to-wit, the ES-2000 Accu-Vote Voting System; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the Portsmouth General Registrar <br />be, and hereby is, authorized to change the method of <br />collecting and counting votes by acquiring and using the <br />ES-2000 Accu-Vote Voting System, subject to approval by the <br />Civil Rights Division of the United States Justice Department. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held on August 27, 1996. <br /> <br /> Teste: <br /> <br /> <br /> City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
