AN ORDINANCE CLOSING PORTIONS OF QUEEN STREET, LOCKPORT STREET (FORMERLY LONDON STREET) WILLIAMSBURG AVENUE (FORMERLY SECOND AVENUE), LONDON STREET, YORKTOWN AVENUE (FORMERLY FOURTH AVENUE OR GRACE STREET), ALL ALLEYS LOCATED NORTH OF HIGH STREET AND SHOWN ON A PLAT RECORDED IN THE CLERK'S OFFICE FOR THE CIRCUIT COURT OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA IN MAP BOOK 1, AT PAGE 41, WEST LANE, AND A 15 FOOT LANE AS DESCRIBED IN DEED BOOK 140 AT PAGE 281. WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, desires to vacate, dose and discontinue the hereinafter described streets, alleys, and lanes; and WHEREAS, by a resolution of this Council adopted on March 28, 1995, viewers were appointed pursuant to Section 15.1-364 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, to view the hereinafter described portion of said streets, alleys, and lanes and to report in writing whether in their opinion any, and ff any what, inconvenience would result ~rom discontinuing said streets, alleys, and lanes; and WHEREAS, the said viewers have reported in writing that in their opinion, no inconvenience would result in the closing and discontinuing the streets, alleys and lanes described herein. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the portions of the streets, a]ieys and lanes hereinafter described be closed and vacated as pubhc streets, alleys and lanes: PORTION OF @UEEN STREET ALL THAT certain portion of Queen Street varying in width and beginning South 87° 0t' 23" West, a distance of 154.06 feet from the intersection of Queen Street and Jamestown Avenue (formerly Fifth Avenue or Virginia Avenue) and thence extending in an easterly direction to the western right of way line of Peninsula Avenue (formerly First Avenue) a distance of approximately 1428.69 feet. PORTION OF YORKTOWN AVENUE ALL THAT certain portion of Yorktown Avenue (formerly Fourth Avenue or Grace Street) being 60 feet in width and beginning at the intersection of Yorktown Avenue with the north right of way line of High Street and thence extending in a northward direction a distance of approximately 554.73 feet to the Southern boundary line of those certain parcels of property conveyed to the City of Portsmouth, Virginia by deeds recorded in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia in Deed Book 140 at page 281, and in Deed Book 140 at page 106. PORTION OF LOCKPORT STREET AIJ, THAT certain portion of Loclqoort Street (formerly London Street) being 60 feet in width and beginning at the western right of way hne of Peninsula Avenue (formerly First Avenue) and thence extending in a westerly direction a distance of approximately 360.28 feet to the eastern right of way line of Williamsburg Avenue (formerly Second Avenue).
