Sec. 22-616. General penalty for violation. <br /> <br /> Excep5 as otherwise provided, any person who shall violate <br />or permit, suffer or allow anyone ~o violate any of the <br />provisions of this division, shall be punished on convIction, <br />by a fine of no5 less than men dollars ($10.00) and not more <br />than one hundred ($100.00). <br /> <br /> 8. That Section 22-642 of the Code <br />Pornsmouth, Virginia (1988), be amended and <br />as follows: <br /> <br />the City of <br />reordained no read <br /> <br />Sec. 22-642. Procedure in case of violation. <br /> <br /> (a) It shall be the duty of the police officers of the <br />city, or uniformed employees of the police deparnment whose <br />normal duties include parking enforcement, acting in accordance <br />with instructions issued by the chief of police, no report: <br /> <br /> (2) The s5aEa license number and/or any other identifyzng <br />information of such vehicle. <br /> <br /> (b) Each police officer or uniformed employees of the <br />police department whose normal duties include parking <br />enforcement, shall a~tach no the vehicle a notice Eo the owner <br />thereof; that said vehicle has been parked in violation of a <br />provision of this division and instructing the owner to report <br />to the City Treasurer or the Police Records Office of the <br />Pornsmouth Police Department in regard no samd violation, and <br />to pay the penalty or s~ate objection to and intent to contesn <br />the notice of violanzon. Each owner may, within fourteen (14) <br />days of the time when said notice was aEtached to the vehicle, <br />pay a penalty in the sum of ten dollars ($10.00) for the <br />violation of any of the provisions of this division. If the <br />owner of the vehicle fails to make paymen5 with fourteen (14) <br />days of the tmme when said notice as anEached co the vehicle or <br />state objection to and intenE Eo contest the nonice of <br />violation, then an additional notice shall be gmven the owner <br />and an additional penalty of 5en dollars ($10.00) shall be <br />charged for the additional notice. Ail monies due shall be <br />paid to the City Treasurer or the Police Records Office of the <br />Portsmouth Police Department, who shall be accountable <br />therefor. <br /> <br /> (c) The failure of the owner to pay the penalty for the <br />violation and the ten dollars ($10.00) for the additional <br />notice within fourneen (14) days from the date of such notice <br />shall render the owner subject to the fine provided in Section <br />22-644. <br /> <br /> <br />
